VFW offers day of fun painting

The Washingtonville VFW Post 5532 will host “Paint Fun” from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. Participants will paint a 12- by 16-foot wrapped canvas with all supplies provided. The cost is $35. A representative from Instructor Cora’s Countryside Creations will be the instructor. Proceeds will go to help support veterans and community. To reserve a spot call Debi at 549-2824 by Sept. 22.

DAHS Class of ’69 to gather

The David Anderson Class of 1969 will hold the fall covered dish at 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Jim Crosser’s Guilford Lake cottage. Plans will be made for the 50th year reunion in 2019. For more information call Mary Beth at 424-9736 or Sarah at 222-1656.

SRMC to host Feel Better event

Women undergoing cancer treatment can learn techniques for looking and feeling their best during an upcoming session of the American Cancer Society’s Look Good…Feel Better program. Salem Regional Medical Center will host the free class from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 19 A licensed volunteer beauty professional will help women makeup application and skin care. Registration is required to receive a personalized makeup kit to use during the workshop; call 1-800-227-2345.

Benefit set for Jones family

A benefit spaghetti dinner will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at East Palestine High School cafeteria to help out the Jones family, which lost everything in a fire on Aug. 20. There will be spaghetti with meatball, salad, bread/roll, dessert and drink for $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-10 (4 and under free). Carryouts also will be available. There also will be a Chinese auction and 50/50. Pre-sale dinner tickets are available at 1820 House and Stitches ‘n Stuff, both on Market Street, or available at the door on the Sunday.

Salem museum will go live

Smithsonian magazine will sponsor the 14th annual Museum Day Live. Hundreds of museums and cultural institutions around the United States are participating, including the Salem Historical Society and Museum. This year, the Salem Historical Society will offer free admission with a downloaded ticket for two guests from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, with the last tour beginning at 3:30.. Blanchard gathering planned

The Lee Blanchard get-together will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Freeburg Church of the Brethren. Those attending are to bring a covered dish, table service and drinks.
