LISBON – In Common Pleas Court, Michaele Thorne, 31, Olive Street, Salem, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for endangering children. Between Dec. 25, 2019, and March 11, 2020, Thorne allowed a 2-year-old child to be abused by her boyfriend, Thomas Browning III. Browning, 38, was found guilty of felonious assault and endangering children by a Common Pleas Court jury earlier this year and was sentenced to up to nine years in prison, but he also has filed an appeal, which is pending.

Jillian Coppock, 24, West Wilson Street, Salem, was placed on four years community control for aggravated possession of drugs and possession of drugs for methamphetamines and buprenorphine in her possession on Aug. 9, 2020.

Municipal

LISBON – In county Municipal Court, Jeremy M. Quear, 41, Wampum, Pa., was bound over to the grand jury on charges of compelling prostitution, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possessing criminal tools. Quear allegedly used his phone to arrange for sex with a 37-year-old woman and a 15-year-old in exchange for money on Aug. 10, when Quear reportedly has a prior statutory rape conviction in Pennsylvania from 1998.

A Sept. 27 preliminary hearing was set for Michael D. Merriman, 36, First Street, Wellsville, charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking Skylla McLaughlin, the mother of his 2-year-old child, in the head and arms in front of a 9-year-old witness, her daughter, on Sept. 11.

Dave Berta, the reported owner of six dogs and four cats seized from 88 W. Main St., Salineville, was ordered to deposit $4,500 by Oct. 1 for the care of the animals by the Columbiana County Humane Society. The animals, which included three treeing walker coon hounds, a blood hound, a plott hound and a shepherd mix, allegedly were being kept in unsanitary conditions with medical neglect.

Levi Matthew Stamp, 28, Franklin Avenue, Salem, was fined $925, had his license suspended for a year, credited with attending a three-day intervention program and required 40 hours community service for OVI first offense and failure to control.

Carly Mae Williams, 24, Rose Drive, Lisbon, was fined $950, had her license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 40 hours community service for OVI first offense and failure to control.

William Jones, 31, East Pershing Street, Salem, was fined $925, had his license suspended for a year, required a three-day counseling program and ordered 20 hours community service for OVI first offense and speeding.

A Nov. 15 pretrial was set for Gavin John Brown, 19, state Route 164, Leetonia, charged with OVI underage first offense, possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia and driving under FRA suspension.

An OVI charge against Cheryl A. McCormick Strum, 66, Rose Drive, Lisbon, was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

Michael P. Souers, 34, Cleveland Avenue, Salem, was credited with three days in jail, sentenced to an additional seven days in jail, fined $350 and required 40 hours community service for possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia for having a burnt metal cap and hypodermic needles on June 15.

A Nov. 22 pretrial was set for Nicholas John Garvin, 21, Western Avenue, East Palestine, cited with reckless operation and failure to stop for a stopped school bus.

A Nov. 22 pretrial was set for Karen R. Owen, 67, Niles, cited with driving under FRA suspension and speeding.

A Nov. 18 pretrial was set for Abbey L. Vanhorn, 22, New Garden Avenue, Salem, charged with obstructing justice for allegedly hindering the efforts of police to take a man who ran from them into custody, telling police no one was there after they saw him run right past her into the house on Dec. 11.

Geno Dwayne Kirk, 29, Rochester, Pa., was fined $150 for speeding.

Joseph McKarns, 62, state Route 644, Summitville, was fined $150 for speeding.

Lucas E. Barker, 27, Youngstown, was fined $100 for no license.

Ramello Shamone Edison, 23, West Sixth Street, East Liverpool, was fined $100 for no license.

A driving under suspension citation against Mackenzie Perkins, 21, Woodland Avenue, Salem, was dismissed.

— Richard A. Brown, of Cream Ridge Road in Lisbon, is set for a pretrial at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 on a domestic violence charge.

— Rachel L. Jenkins, of Lighthouse Court, is set at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 19 for status hearing and 11 a.m. Nov. 2 for a trial on a theft charge.

— Shannon M. Johnson, of McDonald Street, is set at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 29 for a revocation hearing for a probation violation.

— Bench warrants have been issued for Christopher M. Barnes, of Opal Drive in Wellsville; Steven D. Manzini, of Burgettstown, Pa.; Christian L. Plunkett, of West Street in East Palestine; and Jean Y. Wells, of Toronto.

— Santee A. Baumgarner, of Densmore Avenue, was sentenced to $325 plus costs on charges of driving under FRA suspension and failure to maintain an assured clear distance. A review hearing is set at 1 p.m. Dec. 3.

— Christina A. Reed, of St. Clair Avenue, is set at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for a preliminary hearing on an escape charge (two counts), assault and a probation violation.

— Antwane G. McMeans Jr., of Youngstown, is set at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 26 for a status hearing on charges of failure to control, illegal u-turn, reckless operation, an one way offense and failure to display a valid sticker.

— Kaysha M. Knox, of New Cumberland, W.Va, waived extradition to West Virginia on a charge of fugitive from justice.

— Joel A. Sfakis, of Ephraim St., was sentenced to $150 plus costs on charges of no lights, reduced from driving under suspension, and expired plates.

— Austin R. Young, of Newell, W.Va, was set at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 28 for pretrial on a driving under suspension charge.

— Miles L. Reynolds, of Bank Street, was set at 10 a.m. Nov. 30 for a pretrial on a no operator’s license.

— Jennifer L. Rawson, of Main Street in Wellsville, was sentenced to $100 plus costs on a driving alone on a temporary permit charge, reduced from no operator’s license. She is set for review at 1 p.m. Nov. 5.

— Michael L. Russell, of Wedgewood Street, was set at 2 p.m. Tuesday for pretrial on a passing bad checks charge.

— Jarrett W. Shields, of West Fourth Street, was sentenced to $100 plus costs on a fictitious plates charge. He is set for review at 1 p.m. Nov. 5.

— Steven E. Lamm, of Harvey Avenue, was set at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 29 for a pretrial on a defective exhaust charge.
