LISBON — A June 10 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set in county Municipal Court for Stephen T. Vishak, East Sixth Street, Salem, charged with assault of a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony; as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic violence, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. After allegedly assaulting Austin Smith at his home, Vishak allegedly refused to stop for police, took a punch at one and was eventually tasered.
A June 10 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set for William A. Curtis, 14th Street, Wellsville, charged with escape, a third-degree felony; and assault on a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony. On Monday, Curtis allegedly ran from Wellsville police, down the street in handcuffs, and then began to fighting with police when they relocated him about 11 minutes later.
An Aug. 2 pretrial was set for Matthew A. Grate, McCracken Road, Salem, charged with three misdemeanor counts of endangering children. In June of 2019, Grate allegedly was found to have had two girls each locked in her bedroom at night so she was unable to get out and a boy locked in the attic, who was only allowed out when it was time to eat. All three children were placed with a relative in the Cleveland area.
Dirk D. Deckart, 66, East Washington Street, Lisbon, was fined $250, credited with 13 days in jail and sentenced to an additional 32 days in jail for domestic violence for using a lighter close to a person on oxygen on May 21, making that person fearful he was going to ignite the oxygen to harm or kill her, as well as slamming his fist against the table in anger just prior to igniting the lighter.
A June 14 pretrial was set for Sadie Jo Walker, 21, Thomas Street, East Palestine, charged with domestic violence for allegedly struck Nathanial Beatty about his head and face when he was trying to leave the house on May 27.
An Aug. 30 pretrial was set for Tommy L. Brown, 63, Camp Boulevard, Hanoverton, cited with OVI second offense and a stop sign violation.
Scott Allen Baumgartner, 50, South Linden Avenue, Alliance, was fined $850, sentenced to three days in jail, had his license suspended for a year and required 40 hours community service for speeding and OVI first offense amended from OVI second offense.

A July 1 pretrial was set for David S. Van Horn, 32, Morris Road, Lisbon, cited with domestic violence for allegedly choking his father, Tim Van Horn, before pushing him to the sofa and holding him down.
A driving under OVI suspension citation was dismissed against Alex David Morgan Cook, 27, Mullins Street, Salem. Cook was fined $925, had his license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 40 hours community service for failure to control and physical control amended from OVI.
An Aug. 17 pretrial was set for Joseph J. Recklaw, 45, Speidel Road, East Rochester, cited with OVI first offense, speeding and endangering children for allegedly his 5-year-old daughter in the backseat at the time.
A July 15 pretrial was set for Dakota Lee Powell, 25, state Route 39, Wellsville, cited with OVI first offense and failure to control.
An Aug. 19 pretrial was set for Joseph E. Frantz III, 39, West Washington Street, Lisbon, cited with driving under FRA suspension.
