LISBON — A May 14 pretrial was set in county Municipal Court for Jimmy Lee Newell, 49, Canton, charged with illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility and criminal trespassing. Newell allegedly was found by a guard, Joseph G. Bates III, on the Federal Elkton Prison property after an alarm activated in one area on Saturday. Bates was reportedly found attempting to deliver five cell phones with charges and tobacco to someone inside the facility. He was released on a $10,000 recognizance bond.

A March 26 pretrial was set for Joshua D. Stewart, 31, West Pershing Street, Salem, charged with carrying concealed weapons and obstructing justice for allegedly having a modified CO2 pistol, loaded and ready to fire in his waistband on Oct. 27, when he was reportedly acting suspiciously near an open business while police were searching for another person who had just fled from them and had a warrant. He refused to answer questions, even after a warning he could be charged with obstructing justice. The wanted person, Cody Wilson, was found in Stewart’s home. Stewart is further charged with driving under suspension and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for a glass meth pipe he allegedly had on Feb. 7, 2019.

An April 2 pretrial was set for Emmanuel R. Foster, 31, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with aggravated menacing and telecommunications harassment. Foster allegedly threatening to kill her after learning the contents of their storage unit was sold after payments were not made, calling her place of employment threatening to get her fired, as well as threatening to post potentially embarrassing things to social media on March 18.
