East Rochester man sentenced for assault, sex with minor, 14

Staff Report

LISBON–William A.A. Poteet, who also goes by Alex, 21, Mountz Road, East Rochester, was sentenced in Common Pleas Court to four years and nine months in prison for felonious assault and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. A charge of gross sexual imposition was dismissed.

According to the court documents, Poteet had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old child in his vehicle on Nov. 2, 2017, while he was parked near Rose Drive in Lisbon. Poteet will now be required to register as a Tier I sex offender.

The felonious assault charge stemmed from stabbing Cody Pierson multiple times during a fight, which broke out during a 2018 St. Patrick’s Day weekend party at Poteet’s home. Poteet was found guilty of the felonious assault charge by a Common Pleas Court jury in June.

He was ordered to self-report to the county jail no later than Aug. 26 to begin his prison sentence.
