Court News

LISBON –The three men charged with escaping the minimum-security wing of Columbiana County Jail on Sunday all appeared in county municipal court this week, with two given future court dates and the third had his case bound over to the grand jury.

Michael A. Conzett, 22, East Liverpool, and Anthony R. Wagoner, 39, East Liverpool, were both scheduled to appear back in municipal court on June 27 for preliminary hearings on the escape charge.

Michael W. Hover Jr., 28, Salem, waived his right to a a preliminary hearing and had his case bound over to the grand jury.

The men are charged with escape for allegedly breaking a window in the shower area and tearing out the metal cover at the county jail. Once outside, they used a device to cut through the security fence and crawl out. Hover and Wagoner ran down the hill to County Home Road and left in a passing vehicle. Conzett apparently changed his mind and returned to the jail.

Hover and Wagoner were both found by police on Tuesday, with Wagoner found at a home on Cadmus Street in East Liverpool and Hover Jr., found at a home on Olive Street in Salem.
