West Branch posts three in contention

ALLIANCE – Three West Branch wrestlers advanced to the championship semifinals of the Div. II district tournament on Friday at Alliance High School.

Tyler Pidgeon (160 pounds), Logan Sharp (220) and Connor Sharp (285) all won two matches on Friday for the Warriors.

Pidgeon beat Northwest’s Kyle Myers, 6-1, in the first round and then topped Harvey’s Alonzo Turner, 18-12, in the next round. Pidgeon will face Revere’s Zeck Lehman today.

Logan Sharp pinned Perry’s Jake Vicini in 1:13 and then decisioned Benedictine’s Allan Viancourt, 5-3, in the second round. Logan Sharp will meet Conneaut’s Billy Post in the championship semifinal today.

Connor Sharp pinned Streetsboro’s Sam Creque in 45 seconds and then dispatched University School’s Kostas Parrish, 10-3, in the next round. Connor Sharp is set to face Coventry’s Travis Gosnell today.

Alec Schopfer (106), Travis Pidgeon (120), Shelton Braycen (138) and Kenneth Faulkner (152) all are in the consolation bracket for the Warriors.

West Branch’s Donovan Anderson (126) and Mason Hughes (145) were eliminated.
