Winter sports leagues being held

EAST LIVERPOOL – Registration is open for the East Liverpool Area YMCA Winter Sports Leagues. Basketball leagues for kid’s ages 6 and 7, 8 and 9, and 10 to 12 are available. Volleyball leagues are forming for beginners 8 to 9 years old, beginners 10 to 14 years old, 11 to 14 years old in the intermediate division and 12 to 14 years old in the advanced division. Free wrestling clinic scheduled

WHEELING As part of the “SUBWAY Sports Clinic Series” the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference will be hosting its annual free youth wrestling clinic in conjunction with the Ron Mauck OVAC Wrestling Tournament Jan. 19. The free wrestling clinic will be held on the OVAC championship mats of WesBanco Arena from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. that morning and end at 7:45 a.m. The clinic will be led by Branden Lee Hinkle, who is a national champion NCAA wrestler, US National Freestyle All-American and MMA participant. The clinicians will teach the basic fundamentals of wrestling and help build the kids’ self-esteem. The clinic is free and open to boys and girls ages 5-13. Parents are required to have insurance and be present the day of the clinics to sign a waiver form. Softball signups being held

CALCUTTA – Middle Beaver Girls Softball will be holding signups for players ages 5-18 Jan. 25-27 at Dunhams. The signups will be held from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 25 and from noon until 3 p.m. Jan. 26-27. Signups will also be held Feb. 7-8 at the Java Jo House in East Liverpool.

Women’s bowling tournament Sunday

EAST LIVERPOOL – A Women’s No-Tap Tournament will be held at Sunday at Walnut Lanes. Participants bowl four games with their low game being throw out. The entry fee is $25. Anyone interested can sign up by calling 330-385-0176.

Lisbon doubleheader set for today

LISBON – Lisbon High School will play host to a girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball doubleheader on today as the Blue Devils take on Canton Heritage Christian. The girls’ varsity game begins at 6 p.m. and the boys will tip off approximately at 7:30. Heritage Christian has canceled its junior varsity schedule.

Oak Glen alumni basketball game today

NEW MANCHESTER – The Oak Glen Girls and Boys Basketball Boosters will be holding fundraiser alumni games for both women and men today at Oak Glen High School.
