Warriors shut out Eagles

SALEM — The West Branch tennis team finished its season with a 5-0 win over United at the Salem Racquet Club Monday.

The Warriors finish the season 9-7 overall and 7-3 in the North East Tennis League.

Pitch, Hit & Run in Salem

SALEM — The Salem Parks Department and Salem Community Center will be hosting the local Pitch, Hit & Run competition at Galchick Field in Waterworth Memorial Park at 9 a.m. Saturday.

This free event is for girls and boys ages 7-14 to participate in pitching, hitting and base running competitions in either baseball or softball divisions.

Winners in each age group (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14) for each skill tested (pitching, hitting and running) along with an overall winner will advance to the sectionals in South Range at 2 p.m. May 19. Sectional winners will advance to team championships at local major league ballparks and the national finals will take place in Cleveland during All-Star week.

Salem summer outdoor league

SALEM — Anyone interested in entering a team in the 2019 Summer Outdoor Basketball League needs to have a team representative attend the coaches meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the office of the Salem Parks and Recreation Department, 2222 Oak St.

Memorial golf scramble set

NORTH JACKSON — The 16th annual Wayne Grope Memorial Golf Scramble for Special Olympics will be held at 8 a.m. June 29 at Old Dutch Mill Golf Course.

Cost for the four-person scramble is $70 per person, which includes golf, skins, beverages, donuts, coffee, lunch and dinner.
