Ursuline rules at West Branch

BELOIT — Youngstown Ursuline went on a 9-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to knocks off state-ranked West Branch, 47-43, Wednesday.

Ursuline senior and University of Pittsburgh recruit Dayshanette Harris did most of the damage with a game-high 25 points.

The Irish improve to 7-4, while the Warriors — ranked seventh in the Division II state poll — moves to 9-3.

A Grace Heath three-pointer put West Branch up 40-38 with less than six minutes to play. The Warriors didn’t score again until a Peyton Alazaus three-pointer with 4.5 seconds remaining for the final score.

Ursuline responded with a 9-0 run as two free throws by Rachel Fabry and another by Harris made it 47-40 with 17 second remaining.

Alazaus led the Warriors with 16 points and seven rebounds. Heath added nine points and Jessica Bock eight. Carly Scarpitti grabbed seven rebounds.

Ursuline led 15-5 in the first quarter and 22-16 at halftime.

West Branch pulled ahead at 32-27 in the third quarter before Ursuline took a a 36-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

West Branch won the junior varsity game, 66-14.

The Warriors will play at Marlington on Saturday.

Salem 60, Carrollton 36

SALEM — Salem’s girls basketball team played at home for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday and the Quakers came away with a 60-36 win over Eastern Buckeye Conference member Carrollton.

The Quakers were led in scoring by Kyla Jamison with 18 points and five rebounds. Ellie Davidson contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds, three steals and two assists. Echo Mayer-Kutz added eight points, four steals, four assists and three rebounds. The Quakers are 10-4 overall and 5-1 in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Salem’s jayvee team won 48-28 with Krista Barley having 15 points and three assists. Jenna McClish added eight points and three assists.

Salem hosts Canton South on Saturday.

Crestview 59, Campbell 28

CAMPBELL — Crestview limited Campbell Memorial to 16 points over the last three quarters on the way to a 59-28 win Wednesday.

Tanner Hoffer led the Rebels with a game-high 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Krist Perry contributed 13 points and six rebounds, Shianna Mathes nine points, Payton Huff five rebounds, Mara Halas five assists, and Haley Eskra and Addison Bandy with three steals apiece.

Crestview, which trailed 12-6 in the first quarter, improves to 9-2.

Crestview also won the junior varity game, 45-8. Shelby Rambo had 13 points and Ashton Hughes nine to lead the Rebels.

Crestview will host LaBrae next Wednesday.

MINERVA — Minerva’s girls basketball team got 11 points from Coletta Miller in a 46-45 win over Marlington on Wednesday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

Hannah Wayts added 10 points for the Lions, 9-2, 4-2. Addie Rhodes added nine points and nine rebounds.

Minerva won the jayvee portion, 36-16.

South Range 64, Jefferson Area 53

JEFFERSON — Izzy Lamparty had 28 points and 14 rebounds as South Range defeated Jefferson Area 64-53 on Wednesday in Northeast 8 action.

Bree Kohler added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

South Range is 6-5 and 5-2. The Raiders visit Poland on Monday.
