Southern Local rallies by Crestview

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local rallied from an early 15-point deficit to beat Crestview, 57-53, Tuesday.

The Indians trailed 24-9 early in the second quarter and 33-25 at halftime before Cam Grodhaus opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to put the Indians on their way.

Grodhaus had a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds. Jayce Sloan contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Nick May added eight points and six rebounds. Bradly Sloan had three assists and two blocks and Brock Smalley dished out three assists.

Southern improves to 8-4, while Crestview falls to 2-9.

Drake Golden led the Rebels with 19 points. Jude Riffle followed with 13.

Southern also won the junior varsity game, 49-37. James Burris scored 10 points and Sam May nine for the Indians.

Southern will play at Wellsville on Friday, while Crestview is scheduled to play at Ashtabula Edgewood on Saturday.

Columbiana 69, Mineral Ridge 62

COLUMBIANA — Ryan Fahs had 19 points and five assists, while Sean Whitehead had 18 points to lead Columbiana to a 69-62 win over Mineral Ridge on Tuesday.

Erik Hopfenziz added 13 points and four assists for the Clippers, 8-6.

Hunter Zentner had 10 boards, while Matthew Mazei had nine rebounds.

Columbiana won the jayvee portion 53-33.

Dalton Whitehair had 20 points, while Xathon Cross added 12 points.

Columbiana is at Lisbon for a girl-boy doubleheader on Friday.

Sebring 91, Leetonia 48

SEBRING — Gabe Lanzer had 28 points and 12 rebounds as Sebring burned Leetonia 91-48 on Tuesday.

Sebring improved to 6-7, while Leetonia fell to 2-12.

Joey Clark added 19 points for the Trojans who sunk 13 three-pointers.

Brock Simpson had 13 points for the Bears.

Leetonia won the jayvee portion, 52-50.

Sebring is at Western Reserve on Friday, while Leetonia will travel to United.

Lowellville 58, United 54

HANOVERTON — Lowellville handed United a 58-54 defeat Tuesday.

The Rockets improve to 7-3 on the season, while United moves to 7-5.

United will host Leetonia on Friday.
