Tigers claim first

WELLSVILLE–The Wellsville soccer team picked up its first win of the season by beating Jackson-Milton 3-2 Thursday. Mitchell McIntosh led the way with two goals and an assist, while Eli Dieringer had one goal. Hailie Tice and Jonathan Walker each had one assist.

Jonathan DeJane had 7 saves in goal.

The Tigers are now 1-6 overall and are at East Palestine Wednesday.

East Liverpool 2,

Carrollton 0

CARROLLTON–The East Liverpool boys soccer team blanked Carrollton 2-0 Thursday.

The Potters are now 4-2-1 overall.

Izaiha Browning and Ayden Payne took care of the scoring for the Potters with one goal apiece.

Michael Billingsley and Jacob Myers each had one assist.

Kamren Klakos had 12 saves in goal.

The Potters are at St. Clairsville Monday.

Beaver Local 6, Edison 0

CALCUTTA–The Beaver Local boys soccer team easily handled Edison Thursday by a score of 6-0.

The Beavers are now 4-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the Buckeye 8.

Chase Flati led a balanced effort for the Beavers with two goals and two assists.

Alex Miller and Zack Smith each had one goal and one assist, while Alex Burgess and Josh Williams each had one goal.

Austin McCoy and Jake Sinsley each had one save in goal.

The Beavers are at South Range Saturday.

Crestview 10,

Brookfield 0

BROOKFIELD — Crestview’s boys defeated Brookfield 10-0 on Thursday thanks to goals from 10 different players.

Jack Wickline, Ryan Emch, Colton Novak, Daven Manley, Colt Crane, Jordan Scheller, Dale McGoogan, Tanner Daub, Cutter Crane and Jarred Kalina scored for the Rebels, 7-1.

Wickline, Emch, Novak, Crane, McGoogan, Corey Dewell (2), Mitch Auer (2) and Brandon Muntean had assists. Crestview hosts Edgewood on Tuesday.

Lordstown 1

LORDSTOWN–The Springfield girls soccer team tied Lordstown 1-1 Thursday. The Tigers’ lone goal was scored by Taylor Barber, with the assist going to Kylee Kosek.

Rebecca Catlos had 10 saves in goal.

Heartland 4,

McDonald 3

COLUMBIANA–The Heartland Christian boys soccer team picked up a 4-3 win over McDonald Thursday.

Micah Direnzo paced the Lions with two goals and an assist, while Sebastian Sharo and Hayden Stewart each had one. Theo Pethtel had five saves in goal.

Heartland is at Oak Glen Saturday.

Wheeling Central 2, Oak Glen 1

WHEELING, W.Va. — Wheeling Catholic Central beat Oak Glen 2-1 on Thursday.

Oak Glen falls to 4-2-2. Gage Bailey scored for the Bears, while Kade Koper had the assist.

Jacob Clark have five saves in goal.

South Range 8, Leetonia 3

GREENFORD — Bree Kohler scored four goals in leading South Range’s girls soccer team to an 8-3 win over Leetonia on Thursday. Rachel Maynard and Marlaina Slabach each had a goal and assist. Marie DePascale and Kiley McConnell also had goals while Addie Flowers added two assists and Gianna Cicchi had one.

Kylie Tullis had two goals for Leetonia and Anna Buffone had the other.

South Range 10, Struthers 0

GREENFORD — South Range’s girls soccer team beat Struthers 10-0 on Wednesday. Rachel Maynard had three goals and an assist for the winners. Bree Kohler had two goals and Anna Finocchi, Marie DePascale, Madi Less, Delaney Less and Hannah Staffeld had a goal each. Anna Finocchi additionally notched two assists and Marlaina Slabach, Harley Novak, Gianna Cicchi, Kiley McConnell and Alexis Giles also had assists.
