Salem sweeps United

SALEM — Salem’s volleyball team made quick work of United 25-8, 25-5, 25-19 on Saturday.

The Quakers are now 8-0 and host Minerva on Tuesday.

For the Quakers, Echo Mayer-Kutz had 10 kills, 10 aces, 13 digs and three blocks while Elly Exline added six kills, six aces and 15 digs. Assisting the Quakers was Josie Miller with 16 assists, while Kennedy Grimes added 16 digs.

Salem won in two straight in the jayvee match. For the Quakers, Hannah Henderson had three kills. Rylie Troy added five assists.

Rachel Bowen had five kills and three points for the Eagles. Lauren DelVichio had three assists. Alyssandra Moore had two kills and five digs. Haley Dees had eight assists.

United hosts Lowellville on Monday.

Crestview 3,

Union Local 0

BELMONT — Crestview’s volleyball team topped Union Local 25-12, 25-15, 25-17 on Saturday.

Crestview is 7-0 and 3-0 in the OVAC. For the Rebels, Emily Emch had 13 kills and 10 points. Brenna Auer had eight kills and six points. Amelia Montgomery had six aces, four digs and 11 ppoints. Natasha Salmen had 16 digs and three points.

Anna Gorby produced 15 assists, eight points and 13 digs.

Crestview won the jayvee match, 25-22, 25-15. Maddie Moore had eight kills and six digs. Shelby Rambo had five kills and nine points.

Beaver Local 3,

Brooke 0

STEUBENVILLE — Beaver Local knocked off Brooke 25-9, 25-21, 25-12 on Saturday at the Dig Pink match at Franciscan University.

Morgan Bouscher had six kills, eight digs and 10 points for the Beavers. Hannah Call added eight digs and 17 points. Karlee Furman had five kills and five assists. Abby Jackson had six kills. Elaina Howell chipped in three aces and eight assists. Madison Kendall had five aces, 16 assists and 11 points. Madison Smith had 10 kills and three blocks. Brooke Talbot had eight kills and four blocks.

The Beavers play Monday at Indian Creek.

West Branch 3, Mooney 1

YOUNGSTOWN — West Branch defeated Cardinal Mooney 25-24, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23 on Saturday.

Riley Tuel had seven points and 14 kills for the Warriors, 6-4.

Mooney won the jayvee match, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21. Jaci Thomas had 10 points and three aces for the winners.

West Branch is at Canton South Tuesday.

Oak Glen takes second

PHILIPPI, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s volleyball team finished second out of 12 teams at a tournament on Saturday at Philip Barbour High School.

In pool play, Oak Glen beat Frankfort 25-17, 25-9 and East Fairmont 25-13, 25-8. The Golden Bears split with Bridgeport, 24-26, 25-17 in the other pool contest.

The Golden Bears beat the hosts 24-26, 25-21, 25-21 in the semifinal. Hannah Rogers paced the way with nine kills and 10 digs. Jaedyn Hissam had 22 assists and 10 points. Hanna Tice added five kills and five blocks.

Bridgeport knocked off Oak Glen 25-18, 25-22 in the final. For Oak Glen, Hannah Rogers had four kills, seven points and three digs. Jaedyn Hissam had 12 assists and eight points, while Graci Tice had four points and three kills. Brittney Giorgini had eight digs.

Crestview frosh

COLUMBIANA — Crestview’s freshman volleyball team defeated Poland 25-19, 25-16 on Saturday. Lainey Mercure had 14 points, three aces and six digs. Trinity Miller added six kills. Kendra Greaves had 15 assists.

Crestview is 3-3.
