Rebels flex muscles

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview girls soccer team’s offense was in high gear Wednesday as the Rebels defeated Ashtabula Edgewood 8-4.

Morgan Cresanto powered the attack with four goals, while freshman Maci Shaffer poured in three goals and added one assist.

Also for Crestview, freshman Sophia Carr added a goal and an assist, Kayla Best had two assists and captain Madison Lindsay had one assist.

Taylor Mellington had eight saves in goal for the Rebels.

Columbiana 4,

Leetonia 1

LEETONIA — The Columbiana girls soccer team picked up a 4-1 win over Leetonia Wednesday.

Grace Hammond recorded two goals for the Clippers (3-3-2) while Klara Crisp and Riley Lockwood each had one goal.

The Clippers are at Ravenna Southeast on Saturday.

West Branch 7,

Canton South 0

CANTON — Gillian Koneval scored four goals as the state-ranked West Branch girls soccer team blanked Canton South, 7-0, Wednesday.

The Warriors, ranked 12th in the Division II state poll, improve to 8-0-2 overall.

Lexi Biery added two goals and Emma Egli one. Olivia McLean had three assists and Lacey Phillis one. Sam Plocher made one save.

East Liverpool 5,

Edison 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool soccer team rolled past Edison 5-0 Wednesday.

The Potters improve to 5-2-2 overall.

For East Liverpool, Ayden Payne led the way with two goals and two assists, while Izaiha Browning also had a strong night with two goals.

Also for the Potters, Brennan O’Hara added one goal and one assist. Auden Barnhart and Josh Kiger each had one assist.

Kamren Klakos had three saves in goal on his way to the shutout.

The Potters are projected to host an OVAC tournament game Monday with the opponent and time yet to be determined.

East Palestine 3, Wellsville 0

EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine soccer team blanked Wellsville 3-0 Wednesday.

Josh Welch powered the Bulldogs with a hat trick, while Caden Rummel, Blaze Egan and Lautaro Cordero each had one assist.

Sean Helpy had six saves in goal for East Palestine. Jonathan DeJane had 10 saves for the Tigers.

East Palestine improves to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs host Mooney today.

The Tigers fall to 1-7 and are at Heartland Christian on Monday.

Campbell 11, Columbiana 2

COLUMBIANA–Campbell pounded Columbiana 11-2 in boys soccer action Wednesday.

Noah Horne had one goal and one assist for the Clippers. Ashton Kakavros added one goal, while Gabe Heinrich had an assist.

Chris Costanzo had 20 saves in goal for Columbiana, Ashton Kakavros added five saves.

South Range 7,

Jefferson Area 2

JEFFERSON — The South Range girls soccer team picked up a 7-2 win over Jefferson Area Tuesday.

Bree Kohler led the way with four goals, while Rachel Maynard assisted her on all four of them. Maynard also added two goals of her own. Hannah Staffeld rounded things out with one goal.
