MALVERN — It was a close shave for the Wellsville football team on Friday night.

The Tigers (1-2) built a 21-point halftime lead only to survive 41-40 against the pesky Hornets.

Wellsville hosts Lisbon next Friday in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. — Western Reserve was solid on both sides of the ball in a 48-0 win over Cambridge Springs on Friday night.

The Devils (3-0) produced 369 yards of total offense and limited the opponents to 113 total yards.

Ryan Slaven completed seven of eight passes for 138 yards and four touchdowns. Dom Bengala had two catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

Adam Gatrell had 112 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Western Reserve is at Sebring next Friday.

MIDVALE — Minerva extended its losing streak to 33 games with a 58-13 loss to Indian Valley on Friday night.

Minerva (0-3) opens Eastern Buckeye Conference play at Canton South next Friday.

VIENNA — Sebring dropped its 15th straight with a 52-0 loss to Mathews on Friday.

The Trojans (0-3) will host Western Reserve in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference opener next Friday.

RAYLAND — Oak Glen delivered the goods in a 35-21 win over Buckeye Local on Friday night.

Oak Glen moved to 1-2, while Buckeye Local (0-3) dropped its 35th straight contest.

Oak Glen returned home against Grafton next Friday.
