Eagles give Clippers the boot

HANOVERTON — United’s Samantha Wolfe scored a hat trick while Loren Swords, Morgan Briceland and Kendyl Daggy each added two goals as United dumped Columbiana 9-0 in girls soccer action Wednesday.

Earning assists were Swords with three, Briceland with two. Madison Montgomery, Brooke Courtney and Abigail Hruby each added one assist.

Maddie Brieck had three saves for the Eagles.

United (6-2) will host Canton Central Catholic Tuesday.

United 7, Columbiana 3

COLUMBIANA — United knocked off Columbiana 7-3 on Wednesday in boys soccer action.

Zach Jewell had two goals for United (6-1-1, 4-0 in EOAC), while Daniel Blum, Ethan McDevitt and Anthony Phillips each had one goal and one assist. Rounding out the Eagle attack were Dustin Hull and Dom DiGiacomo with a goal apiece and Keaton Widlicka with an assist.

Noah Brieck had five saves for the Eagles.

Gabe Heinrich had two goals and assisted on one for the Clippers, while Colin Schick had a goal and Noah Horne an assist.

Chris Costanzo recorded 15 saves for the Clippers.

East Palestine 4, Lordstown 3

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine’s Josh Welch had a hat trick to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win over Lordstown on Wednesday.

Parker Wisser scored on a penalty kick for the Bulldogs, 6-2.

Matt Garcia had 13 saves.

East Palestine hosts Leetonia on Monday.

Salem 1, Marlington 1

ALLIANCE — Salem’s girls soccer win streak to start the season was halted as the Quakers played to a 1-1 draw against Marlington on Wednesday.

Paige Bailey scored the lone Salem goal off an assist from Abby Perry. Salem is 8-0-1 and 2-0-1. Bailee Thorn had three saves in goal.

Salem hosts Canfield on Monday at Reilly Stadium.

West Branch 8, Carrollton 0

BELOIT — West Branch moved to 6-0-2 with an 8-0 win over Carrollton on Wednesday.

Elizabeth Ostadali led the way with two goals to give her six on the season. Abie Davis, Emma Egli, Addy Jones, Gillian Koneval, Olivia McLean, Lacey Phillis all had goals.

West Branch won the jayvee game 4-0.
