Clippers soar to high finish at Yankee Run

BROOKFIELD — Columbiana finished fourth and Beaver Local fifth out of 19 boys golf teams in the Brookfield Invitational at Yankee Run on Wednesday.

Host Brookfield won with a 317. Columbiana was fourth at 357, one stroke ahead of Beaver Local.

Seth Ross topped the Clippers with an 18-hole score of 81, which tied for ninth overall. Tyler Andersen added an 87, Sean Whitehead 92 and Nate Whitehead 97.

For the Beavers, Luke Eyster was seventh with an 80 and T.J. Wilson was ninth with an 81. Grant Hall followed with a 93 and Tyler Hall 104.

Beaver Local will play East Liverpool Christian and Wilmington Christian at 2 p.m. today at Beaver Meadows.

Canton South 185, Salem 202

CANTON — Canton South topped Salem’s boys golf team 185-202 on Wednesday at Spring Valley in the Eastern Buckeye Conference opener for the Quakers.

For the Quakers (0-1), Dylan Ulrich had a 47, Jacob Monigold 50, Lane Rhodes 51 and Kaleb Day 54.

Beaver Local 173,

Columbiana 232

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s girls golf team defeated Columbiana 173-232 on Wednesday at Turkana.

Hayley Phillips led the Beavers with a 37.

Lakeview 224, Salem 224

CORTLAND — Lakeview’s Sophia Nicholas posted a 41 to lead the Bulldogs to a 193-224 win over Salem on Wednesday during girls golf action at Tamer Win.

For Salem, Kelly Hutton had a 50, Sloan Rudibaugh 57, Emily Weikart 58 and Lexi Miller 59.

Crestview 184, United 192

CALCUTTA — Crestview scored a 184-192 win over United on Wednesday at Beaver Meadows.

For the Rebels, Ethan McCloskey had a 41, A.J. Robb 42, Ariana Rodi 47, Braden Urmson 54 and Emily Hill 54.

For the Eagles, Shane Black had a 39, Parker Berdine 49, Brant Hahlen 49 and Mikey Bardo 55.

Crestview hosts Newton Falls and Champion on Thursday.

West Branch 161, Marlington 170

SALEM — West Branch’s boys golf team beat Marlington 161-170 on Wednesday at Flying B.

For West Branch, Brett Blickensderfer had a 36, Nick Pidgeon 38, Aiden Wiesemann 39 and Reese Leone 48.

Louisville 167, Beaver Local 176

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s girls golf team dropped a 167-176 decision to Louisville on Tuesday in the team’s home opener at Turkana.

Hayley Phillips and McKenna Kyker led the Beavers with 41s.
