East Liverpool opens OVAC

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va–The East Liverpool boys tennis team competed in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference doubles competition on Monday at West Liberty University.

The Potters finish the day tied with Cambridge for first place in Class 4A with six points.

Oak Glen’s boys tennis team sits a point behind the Potters with five.

East Liverpool was led by the doubles team of Terran Stacey and Austin Deering, who lost in the finals to University.

Action resumes at the Wheeling Park Bubble because of predicted rain today for OVAC singles.

FIRST ROUND: Chris Montgomery-Alex Tambellini (EL) def. Micolof-Linden (St. Clairsville), 8-1.

Justin Blasdel-Isaac Long (EL) def. Klasgrove-Everhart (Indian Creek), 8-6.

Terran Stacey-Austin Deering (EL) def. Devour-Smith (Indian Creek), 8-5.

QUARTERFINALS: Chris Montgomery-Alex Tambellini (EL) def. Sutton-Nevarro (Indian Creek), 8-3.

Drew Hawthorne-Kyle Hawthorne (University) def. Isaac Long-Justin Blasdel (EL), 8-3.

Terran Stacey-Austin Deering (EL) def. Smith-Hudson (Linsly), 8-4.

SEMIFINALS: Terran Stacey-Austin Deering (EL) def. Connor Blake-Josh Lantz (Oak Glen), 8-0

Drew Hawthorne-Kyle Hawthorne (University) def. Chris Montogomery-Alex Tambellini, 8-3.

FINALS: Deiland Slaughter-Levi Watson (University) def. Terran Stacey-Austin Deering (EL), 8-3.
