Murray guides Rebels

COLUMBIANA–Scott Murray poured in 27 points as Crestview dominated Jackson-Milton 65-37 in boys basketball action Friday.

Drake Golden added 17 points for the Rebels.

Crestview won the jayvee game 36-32.

Western Reserve 59, United 50

HANOVERTON — Western Reserve jumped out to a 20-9 first-quarter lead thanks to four three-pointers on the way to a 59-50 win over United on Friday.

Western Reserve ups its mark to 14-6, while United moves to 14-7.

Dom Velasquez led the Blue Devils with 16 points. Jack Cappabianca had 14 points, Riley Miller nine points and Ryan Demsky eight points.

For the Eagles, Kaden Smith scored a game-high 20 points. Parker Hydrick followed with 11 points and Alex Birtalan eight points.

Western Reserve also won the junior varsity game, 66-56. Nate Miller led United with 28 points.

United won the JV game 66-56. Nate Miller led the Eagles with 28 points.

United will close out the regular season at Minerva on Tuesday.

NEW MIDDLETOWN–The Springfield boys basketball team overpowered Lisbon 78-55 Friday.

Evan Ohlin and Drew Clark powered the Tigers with 22 and 21 points respectively. Shane Eynon added 16 points.

Lisbon’s Justin Sweeney led all scorers with 24 points. Dougie Minor added 11 points. Ryan McCullough and Branson Brownfield each had eight points.

Lisbon drops to 12-9 overall.

Springfield won the jayvee game 43-34. Michael Davis led the Blue Devils with 12 points.

Lisbon is at Malvern Tuesday.

Heartland 47

COLUMBIANA–Sebring defeated Heartland Christian 90-47 in boys basketball action Friday.

Joey Clark led the Trojans with 28 points, including a school-record nine three-pointers. Jake Hunter added 18 points and Collin Baia 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

For the Lions, Cade Roth led the way with 16 points. Joe Donofrio added 15 points.

The Lions fall to 3-18 overall.

Heartland won the jayvee game 49-47. Hayden Stewart led the Lions with 20 points. Matt Byrd had 13 points for sebring.

Heartland hosts Leetonia Tuesday.

Lowellville 32

LOWELLVILLE–The South Range boys basketball team once again relied on sturdy defense as the Raiders dispatched Lowellville 43-32 Friday.

The game was a battle of two strong postseason contenders. The Raiders are the top seed in the Salem Division III tournament, while the Rockets are the second seed at the Struthers Division IV tournament.

The Raiders held Lowellville to single digit scoring in all but the second quarter.

Jaxon Anderson led the offense for South Range with 12 points. Mike Cunningham, Brady White and Brennan Toy all contributed eight points. Brandon Youngs had seven points.
