Goodall stars at Mt. Union
ALLIANCE — Mount Union senior center fielder Billy Goodall and junior pitcher Phil Mary are on the Preseason All-American first-team by D3baseball.com.
Goodall was an honorable mention All-American selection from D3baseball.com a season ago, and was the first-ever Mount Union player to be named the Ohio Athletic Confernence Player of the Year since the award began in 1978.
Goodall, a former South Range High School standout, led the OAC with a .454 batting average and 25 stolen bases last year. His 25 stolen bases helped the Raiders set a team single season record with 114 steals. He also tied an OAC Tournament record with five hits in a single game and was named to the OAC All-Tournament Team.
Mary was a consensus first team All-American a season ago along with winning both the Mideast Region Pitcher of the Year and the OAC Pitcher of the Year awards after leading the conference with a 10-0 record and a 0.78 earned run average. His ERA was second-best in the nation.
Mount Union will open its season at Wooster on Feb. 25.
