Columbiana piling up wins and milestones

MINERAL RIDGE — Columbiana girls head basketball coach Ron Moscella celebrated his 700th career basketball coaching win as the Clippers shredded Mineral Ridge 70-32 on Saturday.

Moschella spent 31 years as the girls coach at Boardman before jumping to Columbiana six seasons ago. His win total includes parts of two seasons as the Columbiana boys basketball coach.

Kayla Muslovski led Clipper scorers with 21 points.

Kennedy Fullum had 15 points and five assists while Alexis Cross added 10 points to go along with five assists for Columbiana. Marisa McDonough added nine points and nine rebounds.

Columbiana is now 4-0 and will travel to Lisbon on Monday.

Wellsville 40

COLUMBIANA–The Crestview girls basketball team raced past Wellsville 56-39 on Saturday afternoon at Crestview High School.

Krista Perry had 22 points leading the Rebels in scoring, while Emma Smith finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Perry also had four steals.

For Wellsville, Menina Jackson had 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds and Camryn Jackson had 16 points.

Crestview improves to 3-2 and will host Newton Falls on Monday.

Wellsville falls to 1-5 and will host Southern on Monday.

In jayvee action, Crestview won 41-17.

Madi Wick had eight points for Crestview and Leah Vinton had six points for Wellsville.

LEETONIA — Kayla Jackson had 23 points as Leetonia glided past Campbell Memorial 69-30 on Saturday.

Anna Buffone added 14 points for the winners.

Jackson also had nine rebounds.

Leetonia won the jayvee game 22-12 with Taran Ferry scoring eight points.

ALLIANCE — Salem’s girls basketball team bounced Alliance 61-26 on Saturday in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference contest.

Ellie Davidson posted 15 points and seven rebounds for the Quakers, while Allee Davidson-Chuck also had 12 points and four rebounds.

Kyla Jamison had nine points and seven rebounds. Echo Mayer-Kutz had eight points and 12 boards as well.

Salem is 4-1 and 2-0 in the league.

Jaden Hamilton had 15 points and four rebounds to lead Salem’s girls to a 56-11 win in the jayvee game.

Salem hosts West Branch on Wednesday.

BELOIT–The West Branch girls basketball team easily handled Minerva 60-25 in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

For West Branch, Kayla Hovorka had 13 points and Sarrah Tennefoss had 12 points.

Grace Heath and Natalie Zuchowski both had 11 points for the Warriors. Zuchowski and Hovorka had six rebounds each.

Leading Minerva was Nelle Yankovich with eight points.

West Branch is now 5-0 (3-0 NBC) and will be at Salem on Wednesday.

Minerva is 1-2 (1-1 NBC) and will host Carrollton on Wednesday.

In jayvee action West Branch won 53-10.

STRUTHERS–The South Range’s girls basketball team continued its early success as they beat Brookfield 55-33 on Saturday in the Hope Foundation Tournament hosted by Struthers.

For South Range, Bri Modic had 18 points while Dani Vuletich had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Brookfield was led by Bailey Drapola with 26 points.

South Range is now 7-0 on the season and returns to action December 20th at Carrollton.
