Clippers get moving against Beaver

COLUMBIANA–The Columbiana girls basketball team remained perfect on the season with a 48-36 victory over Beaver Local Thursday.

The Clippers (10-0) were led by 15 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Kayla Muslovski added 14 points and six steals. Kennedy Fullum was Columbiana’s leading rebounder with 11, while also contributing eight points.

The Beavers received 10 points from Jenna Riccardo and nine points from Madison Cline.

LEETONIA–Leetonia took care of Sebring 45-27 in girls basketball action Thursday.

The Bears improve to 7-4 on the season.

Kayla Jackson led the Bears with nine points and 10 rebounds, while Ari Russell added eight points. Samantha Schneider and Chloe Dale each had six points.

Aebi D’Ostreph led Sebring with 10 points.

West Branch 49, Mentor 36

MENTOR — West Branch’s girls basketball team grabbed a 49-36 win over Div. I Mentor on Thursday.

The Warriors are now 8-0 while Mentor falls to 4-5.

Kayla Hovorka and Peyton Alazaus had 12 points each for the winners. Natalie Zuchowski added 10 rebounds.

West Branch won the jayvee game, 57-23.

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian’s girls basketball team fell to 0-10 after a 40-29 loss at the hands of Maplewood on Thursday.

Sydney Ogden paced the Lions with 13 points.

Heartland’s jayvees won 24-13.

The Lions host Crestview on Jan. 3.

COLUMBIANA — Crestview improved to 8-3 with a 44-31 win over Springfield on Thursday.

Springfield fell to 3-5.

Krista Perry and Tanner Hoffer had 15 points each to lead the Rebels. Both also had six rebounds.

Marlie Applegarth had 12 points for the Tigers, while Kylee Kosek added 10 points.

BOYS

Mogadore 95, Columbiana 58

NORTH JACKSON — Matthew Mazei had 17 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep Columbiana’s boys team in the game as Mogadore walked away with a 95-58 win on Thursday in a game at Jackson-Milton High School.

Erik Hopfenziz added 13 points for Columbiana, while Hunter Zentner had 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Columbiana fell to 1-8 and will play Jackson-Milton at 6 p.m. today.

Mogadore won the jayvee game, 44-37. Zach Clark had 12 points for Columbiana.
