Osborn hits milestone

MOUNT VERNON — Heartland Christian High School graduate Kristen Osborn eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark this season at Mount Vernon Nazerene College.

Osborn reached the milestone in the Sept. 16 win over Ursuline College. She finished with 18 kills in that match and 400 kills on the season.

Nazarene (18-18) finished the season with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 loss to Marian University on Nov. 4.

Fischer leads Wittenberg

WESTERVILLE — Third-ranked Wittenberg opened NCAA Division III volleyball tournament play with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-11 win over Penn State Behrend on Friday afternoon.

Senior Maddie Fischer, a Minerva High School graduate, led Wittenberg with eight kills. The Tigers (23-2) advance to face 19th-seeded Juanita at 2:30 p.m. today in the second round.
