Southern, Wellsville, Salem advance

COLUMBIANA — Southern Local and Wellsville both earned sectional final wins on Saturday at Columbiana High School to set up a district semifinal showdown.
Southern (23-0) made quick work of Lisbon 25-12, 25-23, 25-16 to pick up its third win over the Devils this season.
For the Indians, Hannah Hayes had 42 assists, five kills and 11 points. Lizzie Willis added 18 kills, eight points and three aces. Anna Sevek had seven kills, two blocks and eight points. Maddie Paxson chipped in six kills. Erin Boyle had 13 point and four aces. Riley Felton had six blocks and 10 kills. Alivia Brothers had 16 digs, seven points and three aces.
For Lisbon, Izzy Perez had 25 assists, 25 digs and two blocks. Kimmi Wiggers had nine kills, 15 digs and four aces. Maddie Liberati had 10 kills and eight digs. Hailee Carpenter had 18 digs.
In its sectional final, Wellsville beat Western Reserve 25-19, 25-19, 25-13. The Tigers will meet the Indians at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the district semifinals at Columbiana High School. Southern beat the Tigers in the teams’ two regular season meetings.
For Wellsville, Kiki Perry had 13 kills, three blocks and three aces. Regan Pierson had 22 assists. Delaney Cochran had three kills and four aces. Emily Skinner had three kills and a block. Emily Russell had four kills, while Peyton Davidson had three kills.
For Western Reserve, Alexis Hughes had 11 kills and six digs. Laura Sigworth had four kills, 13 assists, nine digs and four points. Morgan Eichart had five kills, eight digs and two points.

East Palestine 0
SALEM–The Salem volleyball team punched its ticket into the districts with a 25-11, 25-19, 25-19 win over East Palestine on Saturday in a Div. III sectional final.
Third-seeded Salem will face second-seed Waterloo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night in a Div. III district semifinal at Salem High School.
For the Quakers, Caitlyn Marx had 10 kills and four blocks. Echo Mayer-Kutz had six kills and two blocks. Josie Miller had five aces and 12 assists. Elly Exline had four kills and three aces.
This is the first time the Quakers (16-5) have played has played in the Div. III Salem district.
In the first match of the day, Waterloo defeated Ravenna Southeast 25-11, 25-19, 25-19.
