Raiders, Tigers move on in Salem

SALEM–South Range beat Liberty 25-20, 25-13, 25-7 in Division III sectional play Tuesday night at Cabas Gymnasium.

The eighth-seeded South Range Raiders advance to play top-seeded Crestview at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Salem.

Springfield 3,

Campbell 0

SALEM–Springfield beat Campbell 25-12, 25-4, 25-11 on Tuesday night in Division III sectional action.

For Springfield, Kaelin Yemma had 21 assists and Jennie Stitzel had seven aces, 14 points and seven kills.

Morgan Santangelo had 21 points and six aces for the Tigers.

Springfield is the fifth seed and will advance to play the fourth-seeded United Eagles at 6:30 p.m. at Salem.

Jackson-Milton 3, Heartland Christian 1

COLUMBIANA–Jackson-Milton defeated Heartland Christian 25-22, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21 on Tuesday night.

For Heartland, Sydney Ogden had 22 kills, 11 points, four aces, nine digs and seven points. Lydia Wilson had three digs and two blocks while Hannah Brandenstein finished with 12 points, four aces, five kills and 14 digs. Mikayla Osborn had 12 kills, five aces and 11 digs for the Lions.

Heartland Christian finishes the season at 7-16.

Jackson-Milton advances to play top-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday at Columbiana High School.

West Branch 3,

Ravenna 0

BELOIT–The West Branch volleyball team beat Ravenna 25-3, 25-6, 25-14 in first round Division II tournament action on Tuesday.

For West Branch, Sammie Tuel had 18 points, four aces and seven digs while Grace Heath finished with 17 points, eight aces and seven digs.

Claire Smith and Elise Wallace each had 10 assists for the Warriors.

The fifth-seeded West Branch Warriors advance to play fourth-seeded Streetsboro at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Lake Center 3,

Leetonia 0

COLUMBIANA–Lake Center Christian defeated Leetonia 25-12, 25-8, 25-17 in division IV tournament action on Tuesday night.

For Leetonia, Brianna Luttmers had four assists, seven digs, two aces and three points while Emma Kemp had seven digs and one ace.

The bears also saw contributions from Brea Moore and Miya Dolan who each had six digs.

Lake Center Christian advances to face Columbiana at 7 p.m. Thursday.

East Canton 0

COLUMBIANA–Columbiana opened up division IV tournament play beating East Canton 25-11, 25-13, 25-11.

For Columbiana, Morgan Highley had two aces and six kills, Emily Gosselin had three aces, 14 assists and 10 points, Marrisa McDonough had seven kills.

Alexis Cross had two aces and six kills for the Clippers while Abby Parish had nine kills.

Columbiana advances to play East Canton at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Oak Glen wins tri

WEIRTON, W.Va. –Oak Glen beat Fairmont Senior and Weir in a tri match Tuesday.

In the first match, the Golden Bears defeated Fairmont 25-8, 25-4.

For Oak Glen, Alexis Andrews had 12 points and three aces, Jaedyn Hissam had 19 assists, two spikes, three points and one kill.

The Golden Bears also saw contributions from Alexis Swan with five kills and two blocks while Hannah Rogers had nine kills and seven points.

In jayvee action Oak Glen won 25-12, 25-10.

For Oak Glen, Jadyn Smith and Alayna Kranis both had 13 points.

Oak Glen defeated Weir 25-9, 25-8 in the second match.

Oak Glen was led by Jaedyn Hissam who had 15 assists , two kills, six points and a block while Alexis Sway had eight points, three aces, seven kills and four blocks. Hanna Tice add four points and five kills for the team.

In jayvee action Oak Glen won 25-6, 25-12.

Alayna Kranis had 11 points and Skylar Adkins had 8 points for Oak Glen.
