Eagles rise in EOAC

COLUMBIANA — United Local beat Columbiana 9-0 on Wednesday to improve to 7-0-1 overall and remain in first place in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 4-0 record.

Leading the Eagles were Mitch Kelly with three goals and two assists and Jonathan Logan with three goals and one assist. Also contributing for the Eagles were Zach Jewell with two goals, Kade Blake with one goal and Jaret Hahn with one assist. Noah Brieck recorded his fourth clean sheet in goal with three saves. Chris Costanzo recorded nine saves in goal for the Clippers who fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the EOAC.

United hosts Tusky Valley on Monday.

West Branch 7,

Carrollton 0

CARROLLTON — West Branch’s girls soccer team was a 7-0 winner over Carrollton on Wednesday.

For West Branch, Ali Schroeder and Gillian Koneval had two goals each. Olica McLean, Maci McLean and Elizabeth Ostadali also had goals.

Schroeder provided three assists and Madeline Hinkle had one assist.

Sam locher had three saves in goal.

West Branch is 4-5.

West Branch’s jayvees won 4-0. Kirstin Smith, Emma Egli, Abi Downs and Maci McLean had goals. West Branch’s jayvees are 6-1-0.

Crestview 4,

Springfield 3

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Crestview’s girls soccer team handed Springfield its second straight loss with a 4-3 victory on Wednesday.

Jillian Beard had a hat trick and an assist for the Rebels, while Kassity Miller had two goals and an two assists. Donna Finch had 17 saves and Taylor Mellington had 11 saves for the Rebels.

For the Tigers, Jenna Hatton, Kylee Kosek and Anna Ohlin all scored a goal. Shantell Springer and Kosek each had an assist.

Springfield is 6-2.

United 8, Columbiana 1

HANOVERTON–United rolled over Columbiana 8-1 in girls soccer action Wednesday.

Morgan Briceland had a hat trick for the Eagles, while Molly Ellyson had two goals. Loren Swords, Cassidy Varagliotti and Abigail Hruby each had one goal.

Swords and Madison Montgomery each had three assists. Tori Hahlen had one.

Christina Moats had six saves for the Eagles.

United hosts St. Thomas Monday.

Leetonia 3, Jackson-Milton 0

NORTH JACKSON — Leetonia’s boys soccer team beat Jackson-Milton 3-0 on Wednesday.

Eli Duke had two goals and Tommy Kornbau added one more. Nicolos Saraceni had two assists.

South Range 5, Leetonia 2

LEETONIA — South Range’s girls soccer team beat Leetonia 5-2 on Wednesday. For Leetonia, Kylie Tullis and Sabrina Schneider had one goal each. Kayla Jackson had an assist.

Marlington 2, Salem 0

SALEM — Marlington defeated Salem’s soccer team 2-0 on Tuesday.

Bryce Owen had 17 saves in goal for the Quakers.

Salem is at Crestview today.

Louisville 3, Minerva 1

MINERVA–Louisville beat Minerva 3-1 in Northeastern Buckeye Conference girls soccer action Wednesday.

Ava Burman had the lone goal for the Lions. Sydney Ault had 12 saves in goal. The Lions are now 3-3-1 overall.
