United spikes Lisbon

HANOVERTON –United opened the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference slate by taking down rival Lisbon 25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 25-12 on Tuesday.

United was led by Camryn Jarrett with 24 kills, five aces, four digs and two blocks. Cameron Pierson had 27 assists, seven aces eight digs and two blocks.

Rachel Bowen and Courtney Cooper each had 12 kills for the Eagles. Bowen added four aces and three assists.

United is 1-0 on the season while Lisbon drops to 0-2.

United travels to Toronto on Thursday.

For Lisbon, Maddie Liberati had nine kills, 11 digs and four aces. Kimmi Wiggers added eight kills and 18 digs.

Lisbon won the jayvee match, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21. For Lisbon, Karsyn Faulk had 13 digs, three aces and nine assists. Taylor DeLand had 15 digs.

Southern 3, Leetonia 0

SALINEVILLE — Southern set down Leetonia 25-5, 25-9, 25-5 on Tuesday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference match.

For the Indians (1-0), Lizzie Willis had 19 points, four aces and six kills; Erin Boyle 11 points, four aces; Riley Felton four kills and two blocks; Maddie Paxson six kills, nine points; Anna Sevek two blocks and seven kills.

Kyleigh Ketchum had 12 assists. Olivia Brothers added five digs.

Southern won the jayvee match, 25-7, 25-10. Cheyenne Utt had 15 points and two aces.

Southern is at Columbiana today.

East Palestine 2

EAST PALESTINE — Columbiana outlasted East Palestine, 25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-10, in Tuesday’s season opener.

Alexis Cross paced the Clippers with 14 kills, 19 digs and two aces. Marisa McDonough had 12 kills, two aces and one block; Morgan Highley nine kills, 21 digs and three blocks; and Emily Gosselin 22 assists, six kills and one ace.

For East Palestine, Marlaina Frye had 18 points, 10 kills, five blocks, six assists and two aces; Madee Foster eight points, eight kills and 22 digs; Madyson Pickett six kills, 23 digs, four points and 22 assists; and Jenn Rhodes 37 digs, six points and three kills.

East Palestine won the junior varisty match, 25-13, 25-19, as McKenna Griffith scored 12 points and Caitlin Mohney had four points, three kills and one block.

Wellsville 3, Toronto 0

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville downed Toronto 25-11, 25-5, 25-16 on Tuesday in an EOAC opener.

For the Tigers (1-0), Emily Russell had 11 aces, three kills and 17 assists. Emma Smith had three aces, three kills and three blocks. Kiki Perry had six kills and five blocks. Kinley Martin had five kills. Emily Skinner added three kills and two blocks. Delaney Cochran had two kills, while Jenna McNicol had two aces.

Wellsville won the jayvee portion 25-13, 25-7. Gretta Cartwright had six aces and eight assists.

Wellsville is at Leetonia on Thursday.

Beaver Local 3, Harrison 0

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s volleyball team came through with a 25-9, 25-17, 25-18 win over Harrison Central in a Buckeye 8 Athletic League contest.

For the Beavers, Megan Buchheit had 21 assists, while Abby Jackson had six kills and two blocks.

Reed McGeehan added three aces, four kills and 17 points. Carmen Pugliano had two aces, six digs and 15 points. Madi Smith had 10 kills and three blocks while Madi Kendall had seven points. Morgan Bouscher had 9 kills.

Beaver Local won the jayvee match, 25-10, 25-15. Teddi Kinsey had six kills. Heavyn Wolski added four kills and seven points.

Salem 3, Waterloo 2

SALEM — Salem overcame a slow start in Tuesday’s season opener to beat Waterloo, 13-25, 25-19, 25-16, 18-25, 15-10.

The Quakers had a balanced effort with Echo Mayer-Kutz getting 13 kills and four aces, Caitlyn Marx eight kills and four blocks and Josie Miller eight kills, 11 assists and two game-winning digs.

The Salem junior varsity team swept both games. Kaylee Free had eight assists and four aces and Hayden Carner four kills, two blocks and two aces for the Quakers.

Salem will host Howland on Thursday.

West Branch 3, South Range 1

BELOIT — West Branch upped its mark to 2-1 by downing South Range, 25-19, 24-26, 25-22, 25-12, Tuesday.

Elie Wallace had 11 points and six aces and Sammie Tuel 10 points and two aces for the Warriors.

Jenna Rockwell added eight points and one ace; Elise Wallace 10 assists, eight kills and four solo blocks; Riely Tuel nine kills; Annie Mengay vive solo blocks and one assist; Jessica Bock three solo blocks; and Claire Smith six assists.

Delaney Rito and Sammie Tuel each had 11 digs.

West Branch also won the junior varsity match, 25-10, 17-25, 25-22.

For the Warriors, Jordan Anderson had seven points and three aces, Amanda Minich seven kills, Jordan Anderson five kills and Aariana Ormiston nine points.

West Branch will play at Canton Central Catholic on Thursday.

Heartland 3, Sebring 0

SEBRING — Heartland handed Sebring a 25-15, 25-21, 27-25 loss on Tuesday.

Lydia Wilson had 29 assists, 11 digs and five points for the Lions. Makayla Osborn added nine kills, 13 points and eight aces. Charis Direnzo had four kills, 16 points and nine aces. Hannah Brandenstein had 17 digs and six kills.

Heartland’s jayvees won 25-17, 25-21.

Heartland (1-2) hosts Warren JFK Friday.

Springfield 3, Girard 0

GIRARD — Springfield Local swept Girard, 28-26, 25-16, 25-15, Tuesday night.
