Dogs catch Tigers

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine beat Wellsville 12-2 in soccer action Wednesday.

For the Bulldogs, Josh Welch tallied three goals and two assists. Parker Wisser, Aymeric Leroy and Justin Hooley each had two goals. Wisser and Caden Rummel each added two assists.

For the Tigers, Eli Dieringer and Mitchell McIntosh each had one goal. Dieringer and Casey Lemasters added assists. Charles Heffner made four saves, while Jonathan DeJane and Cameron Betz each had two.

East Palestine is at United Monday.

Wellsville (0-2, 0-1) is at United Wednesday.

East Liverpool 4, Indian Creek 3

EAST LIVERPOOL — Josh Recktenwald led the offense and Izaiha Browning sparked the defense to guid the East Liverpool boys to a 4-3 win over Indian Creek on Wednesday.

Recktenwald scored three goals and Shawn Johnston had the other. Aiden Payne collected three assists. Mikey Argabrite made eight saves in goal.

The Potters (3-0-1) will play at Magnolia on Monday.

East Liverpool also won the junior varsity match, 4-1. Austin Deering had two goals. Jonathan Hill and Josh Kiger each had one goal.

United 2, Newton Falls 1

NEWTON FALLS — Freshman Morgan Briceland scored off a pass from Loren Swords with 12 minutes remaining to give the United girls soccer team a 2-1 win over Newton Falls on Wednesday.

Newton Falls scored in the first five minutes of the game.

United answered with 12 minutes left in the first half from JMadison Montgomery off of a pass from Kendyl Daggy.

Christina Moats made three saves in goal for the Eagles.

United plays Minerva on Saturday.

Salem 1, Niles 0

NILES–The Salem girls soccer team used strong defense to defeat Niles 1-0 Wednesday.

Paige Bailey scored the only goal of the game, assisted by Lydia McKee.

Salem keeper Bailee Thorn had 14 saves in goal.

The Quakers host Crestview at 7 p.m. Monday.

West Branch 3, Massillon Perry 1

BELOIT — Gillian Koneval scored all three goals in leading West Branch to a 3-1 win over Massillon Perry on Wednesday.

Ali Schroeder collected two assists and Sam Plocher recorded the win in goal.

West Branch will play at Mogadore Field on Saturday.

In the junior varsity match, West Branch won 7-1.

Emma Egli had two goals and two assists for the Warriors. Maci McLean collected two goals, while Kirstin Smith, Jillian Pidgeon and Kamryn Briceland each had one.

Springfield 12, Leetonia 0

LEETONIA–The Springfield girls soccer team downed Leetonia 12-0 Wednesday.

The Tigers improve to 3-0 overall. Leading the way for Springfield was Cierra Latronica with four goals and one assist. Kylee Kosek added two goals and two assists, while Haley LaMorticella had a goal and two assists.

Zoe Bruderly had 22 saves for Leetonia.
