Salazar, who has been on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, gave up two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in five innings. He made 71 pitches, 46 for strikes.

He also pitched at Double-A Akron on July 1 and at Triple-A Columbus on July 6. In three rehab starts, Salazar gave up six runs on eight hits (four homers) in 10 innings with 14 strikeouts and six walks.

He was relieved by Zach Plesac, nephew of former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dan Plesac.
