Potters prepare for district
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s district-bound singles tennis duo of Chris Montgomery and Alex Tambellini used Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Lordstown as a tune-up for Saturday’s Division II district meet at Ohio University in Athens.
Both athletes scored singles wins against the Red Devils. Montgomery heads into the district as the top seed. He will have a first round bye. Tambellini will go up against Marietta’s Eric Delong in the first round.
The top three finishers at the district advance to the state tennis championships set for May 26-27 at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason.
The district tournament gets started at 9 a.m.

John Carroll honors two
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — The John Carroll University athletic department recently recognized football player Christopher Clemens and swimmer Jessica Morrow for holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or highter. Clemens is a Sebring High School graduate, while Morrow is a Columbiana High School graduate.
Little Bulldogs signups set
EAST PALESTINE –The East Palestine Little Bulldogs will be holding signups at 4 to 6 p.m. May 21 at the East Palestine City Park at the Girl Scout cabins. Those in grades K-6th are eligible to sign up. Cost is $75 for the first child, $55 for the second child and $25 each additional child. You must bring childás birth certificate and insurance card at time of registration. Monthly meeting will follow at 6 p.m.
Salem Youth Cheer League
SALEM — The Salem Youth Cheer League for those in grades K-6 will hold registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Memorial Building. Cost is $65. (cash only). Child must be present to be fitted. First practice is Aug. 1.
