State honors for Miller
COLUMBUS — Wellsville senior Justin Miller is drawing a lot of attention on and off the basketball court.
Miller, the Tigers’ leading scorer the past three seasons, was named to the Associated Press Division IV All-Ohio boys basketball team released Monday night.
He was named to the All-Ohio second team after being Columbiana County’s leading scorer, averaging 21.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists — all team highs.
He led Wellsville to a 19-4 season and the Inter-Tri County League White Division title.
Miller is Wellsville’s highest All-Ohioan since since Nate Scott was a first-team All-Ohioan in 2014.
Receiving honorable mention were Lisbon sophomore Justin Sweeney and Western Reserve junior Kade Hilles.
Sweeney averaged a team-high 17.9 points and four assists a game in leading the Lisbon Blue Devils to a 14-9 season.
Hilles topped the 17-6 Western Reserve Blue Devils with 14.3 points and 2.1 steals a game and added 4.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
McDonald freshman Zach Rasile gained special mention. Rasile made a state-record 140 three-pointers this season as he averaged a team-high 20.3 points in leading McDonald to a No. 1 ranking in the state poll and a 25-2 record.
