Oak Glen wins home opener

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s baseball team won its home opener 3-2 over Weirton Madonna on Monday.

Lance Collins picked up the win on the mound in 2 1/3 innings relief of started Noah Feicht.

Leading the Bears offensively was Marques McHaffie with two singles and two RBIs. Jeff Rice added a single and Bryson Walls had an RBI single which sent in the go ahead run.

“Today was a great team effort and a great way to start the season,” coach T.J. Osbon said. “The boys have been working extremely hard and are very dedicated to improving every day. We had very good outings today on the mound from Noah and Lance.

“We played great defensively. Our bats were a little slow, but that’s to be expected with the weather we’ve all had to deal with. I’m very proud of the boys efforts today, and it took each and every one of them to get the job done.”

Oak Glen will be at the I-470 complex today versus Wheeling Central.
