Clippers to play at PNC 

PITTSBURGH — In coordination with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Columbiana baseball program will hold Columbiana Nights at PNC Park on June 8 vs. the Miami Marlins and June 18 against the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs.

Tickets are $18 against the Marlins and $21 versus the Cubs. They are on sale now through April 1. Sale of the tickets will give Columbiana the opportunity to face Seneca Valley High School at 2:30 p.m. April 30 at PNC Park.

Potters going to Byesville

BYESVILLE — The East Liverpool boys basketball team is going on the road in the Division II sectional tournament.

The 16th-seeded Potters will play at second-seeded Meadowbrook at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Meadowbrook advanced with a 90-54 win over 18th-seeded West Holmes on Friday night.

West Branch dinner today

BELOIT — The West Branch Athletic Boosters and girls softball program is holding an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the high school cafeteria.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children age 3 and under.

Minerva girls win

CHILLICOTHE — The East Liverpool boys placed ninth and the Beaver Local boys 10th in Division II district bowling action Friday.

Hillsboro and Claymont grabbed the two state spots out of Shawnee Lanes.

The Minerva girls won the district title to advance to the state tournament. Complete results were not reported.

The top two teams and top two individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the state tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on March 3-4.
