Potters claim 7th straight
RICHMOND-The East Liverpool boys soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 6-0 whitewash of Edison Thursday.
Briar Meek led the Potters (7-0) with four goals, while Klayton Kosek had two goals and Alex Potts had three assists.
Also for East Liverpool, B.J. Harris and Shane Talbott each had one assist, while Zack Adkins had eight saves.
The Potters host Oak Glen on Tuesday.
South Range 9, East Palestine 1
EAST PALESTINE – Matt Russ scored three goals as South Range’s boys soccer team continued its strong start to the season with a 9-1 win over East Palestine on Thursday.
Cole Frank and Brandon Youngs each added two goals, while Brooks Thomas and Jonah Wilson had one apiece. Mark Venetti had two assists and Charlies Staffeld, Cole Durina, Thomas and Youngs each had one assist.
Haley Hall scored East Palestine’s goal on an assist from Carter Wisser.
East Palestine (0-5-1) will play at Jackson-Milton on Monday.
Salem 4, Newton Falls 1
SALEM – Owen Ellis scored two goals as the Salem boys topped Newton Falls, 4-1, Thursday.
Andrew Pasco and Brad Dustman also scored goals for the Quakers. Cody Ewing made seven saves in goal.
The Quakers (2-3) will play Minerva on Tuesday.
Crestview 4, United 1
COLUMBIANA – The Crestview girls soccer team launched 13 shots on goal and beat United, 4-1, Thursday.
Freshman Kassity Miller had one goal and two assists and senior Tristan Huff had one goal and one assist for the Rebels. Sophomore Kassie Seabolt and freshman Jillian Beard also scored goals. Junior Maura Belding also added an assist and senior Dana Drinnon made 16 saves.
United’s lone goal came from Rachel Amos.
Crestview (3-2) will play Columbiana on Monday.
South Range 4,
GREENFORD – The South Range girls got three goals and one assist from Casey Lindstrom to beat Springfield, 4-1, Thursday.
Makenzie Ferenchak also had a goal and an assist. Kendall Lindstrom and Sydney Allegretto each had assists.
The Raiders limited Springfield to just four shots on goal, but Haley LaMorticella was able to sneak one of them past for Springfield’s lone goal.
The 6-0 Raiders travel to Simon Field in Struthers on Monday night for a showdown against Youngstown Mooney.
Edison 5, East Liverpool 3
EAST LIVERPOOL-The East Liverpool girls soccer team fell to Edison 5-3 Thursday.
Chelsea Reynolds had two goals and Anna Guildoo had one goal for the Potters (2-1), while Hanah Newlin had one assist and Kaileigh Christy had eight saves in goal.
Edison (2-1-1) was led by three goals by Stephanie Betaniebube.
Steubenville 1, Oak Glen 0
STEUBENVILLE – The Steubenville girls made a goal on a penalty and that was the difference as Big Red edged Oak Glen, 1-0, at Harding Stadium on Thursday night.
Big Red was awarded two penalty kicks in the second half. Big Red missed the first one, but junior Marissa Howcroft scored on the second one with 11:43 left to play in the match to give Big Red the victory.
