Trimmer scores 3 in Warrior win

COLUMBIANA – The West Branch girls soccer team knocked off Columbiana 6-1 on Saturday.

Melinda Trimmer led the Warriors with three goals, along with a goal each from Jenna Smith, Maddie Pidgeon and Haylee Biery, and an assist from Baikey Polinori. Lea Bock had three saves on goal while Kendal Briceland had one save.

Skye Kramer scored the lone goal for the Clippers in the second half.

The Warriors travel to Canton South on Wednesday.

West Branch 2, Columbiana 0

COLUMBIANA – The West Branch boys soccer team blanked Columbiana 2-0 Saturday.

Kyle Zeigler scored both goals for the Warriors, while Alec Schopfer and Josiah Ross each had an assist.

The Warriors host Canton South on Tuesday.

Minerva 5,

East Palestine 0

MINERVA – The Minerva boys soccer team shut out East Palestine 5-0 Saturday at Hines Field.

Tyler Stewart led the Lions (4-0) with three goals, along with Austin Lowmiller with two goals. Frank Pachan, Landon Henman, Logan Monter and P.J. Miller each had an assist, while Justin Schotts had four saves.

The Lions travel to Marlington on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs drop to 0-3-1 and host United on Wednesday.

Brooke 3, Beaver Local 2

CALCUTTA – The Beaver Local boys soccer team fell to Brooke 3-2 on Saturday.

Chase Hilliard and Drew Theiss both scored unassisted goals for the Beavers, who are now 3-2 on the season. Hilliard’s goal was his 19th of the season.

The Beavers head to East Liverpool on Tuesday.

Cardinal Mooney 13, United 0

STRUTHERS – The United girls soccer team struggled with Cardinal Mooney Saturday as the Cardinals blanked the Eagles 13-0 at James Simon Soccer Park.

The Cardinals are now at 1-3, while the Eagles (2-4) were handed their first shutout of the season, having scored in their five previous games.

The Eagles host Springfield on Wednesday.

Beaver Local 3, Steubenville Catholic Central 2

CALCUTTA – After trailing by a goal in the first half, the Beaver Local girls soccer team rallied to knock off Steubenville Catholic Central 3-2 on Saturday.

Alexa Schwerha led the Beavers (4-1) with a goal and an assist, along with a goal each from Alex Eisenhart and Madison Muscari, an assist each from Haley Tomlinson and Kierra Taylor, and 10 saves by Anna Jennings.

The Beavers also won the junior varsity game 3-0, with Stefani Watson, Riona Hissom and Alexis Ballerstein each scoring a goal while Courtney Elliott had six saves. The junior varsity team is now 2-0.

The Beavers host Salem at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
