Eagles blank Clippers; Hilliard scores 7 more

COLUMBIANA – Andrew Martin scored four goals – including United’s first two and last two – as the Eagles blanked Columbiana, 6-0, Monday at the Ward Athletic Complex.

Riley Fillman and Zebidiah Zehentbauer also scored goals for the Eagles, who improve to 2-1.

United will host South Range on Wednesday.

Beaver Local 11,

East Palestine 0

CALCUTTA-Beaver Local’s Chase Hilliard tied a single-game school record with seven goals as the beavers routed East Palestine, 11-0, Monday.

Hillard-who also had one assist-equaled the record set by DeShawn Parker last season. It was his second straight game with seven goals.

Also for the Beavers (3-1) Drew Theiss had three goals, Colin Brightwell had a goal and two assists, Tracer Yergin had an assist and Chase Wilcox had eight saves in goal.

Beaver Local travels to Oak Glen Thursday.

Howland 3, Salem 2

SALEM -The Salem girls soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Howland on Monday.

Marissa Swindell scored both of Salem’s goals off assists from Sydney Green and Katelin Chilton. Katie Moore made 10 saves in goal.

The Quakers will play at Louisville at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Leetonia 4, Campbell 0

YOUNGSTOWN – The Leetonia High School soccer team opened its season Saturday with a 4-0 win over Campbell Memorial .

Quentin Walters led Leetonia by scoring three goals. Shayne Rhodes added one goal and three assists. Mitchell Baker and Zoe Bruderly combined four for saves saves in goal for the shutout.

Leetonia will host Mineral Ridge on Wednesday.
