Columbiana sweeps Leetonia

LEETONIA-Columbiana swept aside Leetonia, 25-21, 25-19, 25-10, in volleyball action Monday.

The Clippers (3-1) were led by Shayla Ray with 11 points, 24 kills and 13 digs, while Haley Tohm had six points and Hannah Hum had 21 digs.

For Leetonia (0-4) Ariel Smith had 11 points and seven kills, while Maddie Penfold had 10 points and 17 digs.

Leetonia is at Sebring today.

Youngstown Mooney 3, East Palestine 0

EAST PALESTINE-The East Palestine volleyball team was swept 25-8, 25-6, 25-10 by Youngstown Mooney on Monday.

For Mooney, Nichole Webber led the way with 11 aces. Three different players recorded at leas ten kills for the Cardinals, who improve to 5-0.

Jessica Leake led the Bulldogs (0-5) with 3 points and 3 kills, while Kerrigan Wischerman had three assists.

Boardman 3, Springfield 0

NEW?MIDDLETOWN?-?Boardman rolled over Springfield, 25-19, 27-25, 25-13, Monday.

Courtney Platt had 14 points and 13 digs for the Spartans, who improved to 3-1. Krist Johnson added 12 kills and Hope Landers 11. Katie Platt made 32 assists.

For Springfield, Callie Ford had four points, five kills and 43 passes; Elizabeth Thompson four points and 14 assists; Emily Stacey three points; Caitlyn Cyrus seven blocks and three kills; Courtney Cyrus six blocks and four kills; Quinn Crowe seven kills; and Kasey Kohler three kills and three blocks.

Springfield (2-2) will host United tonight.

Boardman also won the junior varsity match, 25-15, 25-23.

Beaver Local freshmen

The Beaver freshmen volleyball team improved to 3-0 by defeating Girard on Monday.

Leading the Beavers were Reed McGeehan with 15 points, Megan Buchheit 0 points and Sidney Call with nine points.

The Beavers will host Buckeye Local at 5 p.m. today before the junior varisty and varsity contests.
