SEBRING-Kelsi Settle had a double, a single and two runs scored as Sebring blanked Southern Local, 7-0, in Division IV sectional softball action Tuesday.

Sydney Smith pitched a two-hitter as the sixth-seeded Trojans advance to play at third-seeded Columbiana today.

Hailee Polen and Brooke Spencer singled for the 10th-seeded Indians.

Southern wraps up its season with a 4-15 record.

YOUNGSTOWN – Wellsville conquered Youngstown Christian, 16-1, in five innings in a Division IV sectional tournament opener Tuesday.

“I’m very proud of these girls,” Wellsville coach Joe Soldano said. “It’s the first tournament win in a very long time for Wellsville.”

Toni Lombardozzi had a double and three singles, Mystic Beatty had a triple and two singles and Sarah Dalrymple had three singles for the Tigers.

Youngstown Christian’s Limbeck had a double and the only hit.

Wellsville (8-13) will play at top-seeded Western Reserve today.

Allison Cosma and Cheyanne Gostey each singled for the eighth-seeded Blue Devils (6-13).

Fifth-seeded Jackson-Milton advances to play at fourth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas today.

EAST CANTON – East Canton senior Tara Kimbel tossed a no-hitter as the Hornets stung Leetonia, 10-0, in five innings in a Division IV sectional opener Tuesday.

Kimbel struck out five and walked three, finishing off the Bears with 66 pitches.

Kayla Eichelberger powered East Canton with a home run, while Courtney Kennedy scored four runs and stole three bases and Dayanna Worley drove in three runs with two hits.

Seventh-seeded East Canton advances to play at second-seeded Crestview today.

ATWATER-East Palestine’s tournament run came to a quick end as the Bulldogs were no-hit by Waterloo’s Haley Hurd on their way to a 10-0 loss in a Div. III sectional opener Tuesday.

Carson Rutledge took the loss for the 12th-seeded Bulldogs (3-15).

Hurd fanned 13 batters as fifth-seeded Waterloo advances to play at third-seeded Girard today.

BELOIT – The Salem softball team rode a seven-run first inning to upset West Branch 13-11 in regular-season softball action Tuesday.

Kristen Brown had two hits including a double and three RBIs for the Quakers (5-20, 2-10 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Also for Salem, Reagan Meals had three hits and two RBIs, while Sarah Smith and Cassandra Burke each had two RBIs.

Bailey Byers doubled, tripled and had three RBIs for the Warriors (15-5, 8-3 NBC).

West Branch is at Canton South today for a regular season game.

Lauren Stitle had two singles and four RBIs and winning pitcher Ashley Weber also doubled and singled for the Warriors. Ellie Elasivich and Zoie Bailey each had two singles.

West Branch (14-2) will play at Canton South at 4:15 p.m. today.
