An Ohio Edison employee reported to Salem police Monday that sometime in the last two weeks, the substation on South Ellsworth Avenue was broken into by someone cutting a chain link fence at the rear of the property and entering. Multiple wires were cut and removed which contained copper clad, which the report said is not valuable at scrap places. The same wires were taken before and had been replaced recently with the copper clad. The report said 200 feet of wire was removed. The estimated cost to repair the fence was $500, wire replacement was $1,600 and $8,100 for all repairs and labor costs.
