United to sign up new students
United Local Schools will hold new student registration for the 2014-15 school year on Aug. 12 and 13. Registration packets will be available in the administrative office beginning today and appointments will be scheduled when picking up packets. Appointment can also be scheduled by phone at 330-223-2831. Appointment times are 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Children who will be age 5 on or before Aug. 1 are eligible for kindergarten. Parents/guardians must present the child's birth certificate, social security number, immunization records, two proofs of residency, and custody papers, if applicable. PPCT to auditions for comedy
Potter Players Community Theatre will hold open auditions for the British comedy "Blithe Spirit" at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12 at the theater, 417 15th St., Wellsville. A cast of five adult women and two adult men is needed. The story follows a well-to-do couple who host a dinner and seance where an eccentric medium conjures up the husband's deceased first wife. United offers K preparation class
United Elementary School is hosting a "Get Ready for Kindergarten" class, a week-long class, where children prepare for kindergarten. Incoming kindergarteners will participate in games, songs, stories, crafts to become use to the school routine. Openings are still available by calling the elementary office at 330-223-8001 by Friday.
Employment First to be discussed
EDI South parents, caregivers and community members can attend a meeting with Kristen Helling, Employment First Initiative project coordinator, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Lock 24 in Elkton. Helling will discuss facts about the initiative as well as the state mandate.
OVCT will host pool party
The Ohio Valley College of Technology is hosting a free community event, Splash Down, from 6-11 p.m. Friday in East Liverpool's Thompson Park. Along with free free admission and swimming, there will be food, games, and raffles.
