Bus trip to Wooster offered
A free trip to historic downtown Wooster will take place Thursday. Offered by the city of Salem through a state Certified Local Government grant, trip will include a tour of downtown, shopping, the Rubbermaid Outlet Store and more. Lunch is not provided. Riders will leave at 9 a.m. To reserve a space contact Ginger Grilli at 330-853-7050, providing a name, phone number and number attending. A confirmation email will include all the departure details. The next tour will be Aug. 5 to Beaver, Pennsylvania.
Ellsworth graduates to reunite
The 80th annual Ellsworth School reunion is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ellsworth VFW, Ellsworth Road. All teachers and students who attended or worked for Ellsworth Township Schools before the consolidation with Berlin Center are invited. Guests are to bring a covered dish and table service. Beverages will be provided.
They will party like its 1969
The Salem High School Class of 1969 will hold its 45th reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Italian Club, Penn Avenue. Prior to the reunion, on Friday classmates can meet at the home of Ginny Edling Eudy, 1177 N. Lincoln Ave., Salem at 6 p.m. Eudy will also host a post-reunion event at 10 a.m. Sunday at her home.
Shoe collection set in Salem
Salem High School Class of 2016 will hold two shoe fly-by donations on Aug. 3 and Aug. 9. The first drive will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 3 at Family Video, State Street, Salem. During the second drive, the class will be working with the Arby's Cruise Crew and a rain date is set for Aug. 16. Class members and their parents are aiming to collect 15,000 pairs of gently used shoes. All sizes and types will be accepted. Shoes must not have holes or be torn. The drives will help raise money for the prom and after-prom.
Barborak to meet constituents
State Rep. Nick Barborak will host two town halls in August for constituents to discuss issues and how the legislature can best address those. Dates are 10-11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at the East Liverpool Carnegie Library and 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Columbiana Library. All events are open to the public. For more information, call 614-466-8022.
Car show part of Overflow
The sixth annual antique and classic car show held during the August Overflow will run from 3-5 p.m. Saturday. The show along with the Overflow event will take place at Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, New Waterford. It is open to any make, model or year and magnetic dash plaques will be awarded. Entry is free. The top three cars will be awarded People's Choice trophies. For information, call 330-853-5440.
