Grandstanding

June 24, 2014
Morning Journal News

Making up for lost time, construction workers were hard at work Sunday on the new grandstand at the county fairgrounds. The structure that will sit 70 feet farther north on the grounds will be 20 feet shorter at 220 feet in length but five feet higher off the ground and will hold more people than the old structure. Steel erectors from Pappas Construction of Monroe, Tenn., bolted together the steel and laid the treads down on the structure. The grandstand, which is about 40 percent complete, will be ready for the sound systems and landscaping in a couple of weeks.
