CHARLESTON, W. Va. - Oak Glen sophomore Madison Juszczak is on the verge of winning another state title.
Juszczak won her West Virginia Class AA-A semifinal match at No. 2 singles on Friday to advance to the state title match this morning at Kanawha City courts.
"I'm very happy for her," Oak Glen coach Ken Keller said.
Juszczak - the No. 4 singles state champion last season - will meet Weirton's Barbie Sulimanova, an exchange student, in the final with Juszczak winning both meetings this season between the two.
In Friday's semifinals, Juszczak defeated Huntington St. Joseph's Alyse Lewis, 7-5, 6-4.
Juszczak also played on Oak Glen's state championship volleyball teams the past seasons.
In the No. 1 doubles semifinals Friday, Juszczak and Haley Spurlock dropped a 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 decision to Bluefield's Molly Lovern and Zoe Nicewander. Lovern won a state doubles title last year.
