Crews pressure test a natural gas pipeline that runs under state Route 172 between that road and County Home Road. According to the crew, the spot hydrostatic testing is required by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). This safety test is performed throughout the natural gas pipeline system to validate the safe operating pressure of the pipeline. The procedure involves pressurizing a section of pipe with water at a much higher level than the pipe will ever operate with natural gas to check its safety. The testing at this site was done and the crews were reconnecting the pipeline Tuesday evening.
