GOSHEN TOWNSHIP - Three people already charged with burglary in Portage County were arraigned Thursday on similar charges in Mahoning County.
Heather Renee Boots, 34, Fairfield Avenue, Columbiana; Daniel J. Boots, 39, Pinetree Circle, East Palestine; and Juston Edward Buskirk, 34, 330 West Martin Street, East Palestine, were arraigned for second-degree felony burglary.
They were already detained on felony burglary charges in the Portage County jail.
The Goshen Police District charges stem from an incident at 8:41 p.m. Feb. 28 in which Chief Steve McDaniel responded to 6510 state Route 165 where the resident reported someone some time after 6:30 a.m. had forced entry into the home by smashing the rear door with a shovel, removing a 46-inch flat screen television, a laptop and a jar of rare coins valued at $1,000.
Detective Matthew Beck with assistance from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation secured the scene and found the shovel believed to be used to gain entry next to the door, and several different footprints as well as a set of tire tracks in the snow.
The three were arrested a month ago for a daytime burglary Feb. 21 in Deerfield in which video surveillance was obtained.
Portage County sheriff's deputies distributed the video to law enforcement agencies in a multi-county area. Columbiana County sheriff's deputies recognized the suspects.
The three also are suspected in burglaries in this county, Trumbull County and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.
The suspects remain in the Portage County jail.
