Wellsville senior Nate Scott got into the starting lineup because of his shooting and didn't stop until becoming the top scorer in Columbiana County history.
Scott, a first-team Division IV All-Ohioan, is the Morning Journal's 2013-14 All-Area boys basketball player of the year.
"Nate is a natural scorer and has been," Wellsville coach David Thompson said. "He was the go-to guy, our leading scorer, a four-year starter. He did everything we asked him to do."
Scott averaged an area-high 22.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game this season. He shot 72 percent from two-point range, 40 percent from three-point range and 73 percent from the foul line. It was the third straight season he led the team in scoring.
Lisbon's Chris Huckshold is the coach of the year after guiding the young Blue Devils to a school-best 21-5 season and their first district title appearance since 1970.
Scott is on the All-Area first team for a second straight year.
Joining Scott on the first team are Wellsville senior Camden Douglas, Beaver Local senior Jared Lyder, East Liverpool senior Hayden Cunningham, Salem senior Max Wolfgang, Lisbon sophomore Austin Rutecki, Southern Local sophomore Troy Holden and Springfield sophomore Graham Mincher.
