Lisbon Street (state Route 267) in East Liverpool was closed down from Northside Avenue to Ninth Street Monday after an unknown vehicle dropped what city officials believe was hydraulic fluid along its length. City firefighters responded and closed the road, and city street workers dumped large quantities of sand onto the slick fluid to absorb it. Street crews expected to scoop up the sand and fluid once it was absorbed, but officials were uncertain how long that would take or how long the street would be closed. The spill reportedly caused one accident when a car going south slid on the oil and into a guardrail. The extent of the driver's injuries was not known.
