Edith Brown

POLAND - Edith B. Brown, 93, of 301 W. Western Reserve Rd., Poland, OH 44514 went to be with the Lord after a short illness Monday morning.

She was born November 8, 1920 in Petersburg, OH, a daughter of Paul F. and Grace (Sheely) Beight.

She was a 1939 graduate of Petersburg High School. During World War II she worked in the shipping department of Harrold Tool Co. She also worked as a dental assistant in Columbiana. Later, she worked in the office of J.C.Penney Co. in downtown Youngstown. Further on in life she and her brother Paul Beight ran the World House Gift Shop at Sciota and Market in Boardman and later in the Carriage House at "Glenellen" located at 9661 Market Street.

She was a member for 93 years of St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg and was an associate member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Boardman. All through life she was very active in church work. Her great love was to help charities, always giving to the poor man without food.

A member of the Saxon Club Retirees, she enjoyed being with relatives and friends and especially enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She was also a member of the Springfield Historical Society, contributing many articles for the museum.

Together again, she and her husband George E. Brown were married May 7th, 1949. He passed away July 25th, 1982.

To mourn her passing, she leaves a brother, Paul F. Beight of Poland, a niece, Sarah Joe Brown, and nephews Dale Brown, Edward Elliott, and David Elliott.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1 at St. John Lutheran Church, 14394 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Petersburg with Pastor Aimee Raymond officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, two hours before the service.

Burial will be at Petersburg Cemetery.

The family suggests donations may be made in Edith's memory to St. John Lutheran Church, 14394 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Rd., Petersburg, OH 44454.

The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
