EAST LIVERPOOL - A man considered a suspect in the shooting of a local man last July has been found in Columbus and was being held there Thursday by officials.

Christian Radcliff, 25, Columbus, is currently incarcerated in the Franklin County Jail after a call by city Detective Don Fickes in relation to a more recent case involving his alleged victim.

Radcliff is suspected of shooting Tyler Austin, 22, Wells Avenue, Wellsville during a confrontation in the East End last July which resulted in Austin suffering a wound to his torso and being flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The shooter in that case had not been found despite an intensive search by local police officers that night.

On Monday, Austin reported being shot at in the parking lot of the Woodland Hills housing complex in what police called a domestic situation and, on Wednesday, the suspect in that shooting, Cedric Johnson, 20, Steubenville, was apprehended by Steubenville police.

He had been charged by city police with unlawful discharge of a firearm at a habitation or school.

Fickes said Thursday that, when Austin was involved in Monday's shooting incident, he contacted Radcliff's probation officer to inform her and asked to have a hold placed on him in the event he were arrested on other charges.

Radcliff was picked up in Columbus and is being held for East Liverpool, according to Fickes, who was uncertain what precipitated his arrest there.

Meanwhile, Johnson appeared in East Liverpool Municipal Court Thursday, where a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 23, with $100,000 cash/surety bond set.

Johnson was ordered to have no contact with Austin or Erica Burke, who told police she had returned home Monday to her apartment at Woodland Hills accompanied by Johnson and found Austin there. She and Austin have a child together.

Burke has told police a confrontation ensued between the two men and she saw Johnson walk toward Austin, firing a gun.

Johnson has requested a public defender, but, according to court dockets, the judge determined he is not indigent and he was not appointed an attorney Thursday.
