SALEM- A Salem man is in custody following an apparent murder on Walnut Street early Saturday morning.

Quinton E. Lewis, 34, 530 Walnut St., has been charged with homicide after officers responded to his home at 4:09 a.m. for a 911 report of shots fired in the area, possibly at the home.

Upon arrival officers found Lewis at the rear of the residence and the deceased, identified as Lewis' brother, Marion F. Lewis, 40, last of Columbus, lying face down on the kitchen floor with multiple gun shot wounds. A firearm was recovered during the investigation.

According to Detective Dave Talbert, there were people present at the time of the incident and investigators were interviewing the witnesses as of Saturday evening. He said the homicide is believed to be drug related.

Talbert said both brothers are originally from Columbiana County and that Quinton Lewis has been residing in both Salem and Akron.

The Columbiana County Homicide Task Force was called around 4:30 a.m. to assist in the investigation. Also assisting was the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the county prosecutor's office, the Columbiana County Coroner, KLG ambulance, Perry Township police, Salem Fire Department first responders and the state highway patrol

The Homicide Task Force, created May 2012 along with participating local law enforcement agencies, serves to provide immediate investigatory assistance when requested by other departments and to ensure enough investigators are available during the first critical hours of the crime.
